The project has been formed during the preparation of original material, collected for the comprehensive database on the collections in Vienna. Our main goal was to show parallels between art market actors and collections. Auction catalogues, spanning from 1768 until 1899, kept in the ALBERTINA, Austrian National Library, MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna University Library, … are shown as a database according to the locations of art auctions and dealers as they appear within the catalogues themselves. Previous locations of collections were adjusted with either address (Lehmann's allgemeiner Wohnungs-Anzeiger. 1859-1899) or places of death. Historic locations and their current addresses were found with the help of Wien Kulturgut: Historische Stadtpläne and Wien Geschichte Wiki. Historische Wissensplattform der Stadt Wien.

Art auctions and collections maps are interactively divided into decades. The start of each entry is marked by the sale dates, followed by the name of the collector precisely as it appears in the catalogue. Lastly, the location of the sale is recorded with a short transcription marking the historic location of the sale itself (1799. Unterberger, Ignaz. Sale).

The map of the art dealer’s records time span and location according to the collected sales catalogue are shown in one layer (1790-1817, Mechetti, Carlo.).
